Abstract
This paper deals with the way an intellectual network is created in the Latin American context. It addresses the problem of networks, consolidating them through the emotional energy that circulates in the letters among intellectuals of the early twentieth century, during modernism. Concepts such as "former speeches," ego-centered networks and emotions from sociology, discourse analysis, and anthropology are examined. The modernists who are considered are, among others, Ruben Dario, Manuel Ugarte, and Miguel de Unamuno.
