Abstract
This is a study of the main ideas in Tzvi Medin’s Entre la jerarquía y la liberación. Ortega y Gasset y Leopoldo Zea (1998), where Medin offers an analysis that compares and contrasts the life, trajectory, ideas and writings of these two figures who were leaders in Spain and Latin America’s intellectual life. The contrasts that Medin points out between the ideas and the relationship that each of these men had with their circumstances and history are examined, together with the relationship between the work of the philosopher and that of the intellectual, particularly in the case of Zea.
