Abstract
In this paper we study Argentine exports of beef and mutton during the First Global Economy, which was extended from the last two decades of the 19th century until the beginning of the First World War. We analyse their evolution in terms of value and volume. Additionally, we research the role of United Kingdom as the major market and the unsuccessful attempts to enter into other markets in Europe and America. We based our study on official statistics and diplomatic documentation of Foreign Relations Ministry Archive.
